smashing success

he did it.  the entire meal.

he was nervous, watching the man of steel exhibit emotions is pretty cute.  everything was a lot harder and more time consuming than he expected... which i was pleased with.

momma lynn approved, jay man was impressed... he has the fever folks.  his next meal is going to be home made tamales.  kinda weird.  but i am sure it will be just as good.

action shot

the working on the yard extravaganza i mentioned last time has had some repercussions.  walker has poison oak. on his face.

and seriously, what is wrong with lindsay lohan's face?

walker and cooking...

we had some amigos over for dinner a few weeks back. i told everyone to come over at 5:30 because i wanted to get to bed early (getting old is the best).  one thing lead to another and before we knew it, it was 2 mother effing 30 in the morning. 2:30!  i haven't stayed up that late on purpose since 2004. they had literally been at our house for 10 hours.  we know how to entertain people.

tip for amateurs:  make sure your water to wine ratio is even

and invite jessi.

the title of this post might have fooled you, because the walk man didn't cook.  he did what he usually does: worked on the house or at work all day, showed up 20 min before guests arrived, showered, downed a bud light and then greeted everyone like a hero.  meanwhile i have been up prepping, chopping,  going to 4 different stores, forgetting the bread twice, cleaning up the mess i made, stressing because the sauce i labored over tasting like nothing.  Nothing!...  so i told him i wanted him to do a meal from start to finish.  the last meal he made was grilled cheese and tomato soup (from a can).  he managed to use ALL of our pots and pans.  and the bread was burnt black yet he managed to keep the cheese unmelted.  #talent.

(my prep for our oscar meal.  huge deal)

now don't get me wrong jerry.  i don't complain about cooking or cleaning or doing the laundry because walker does everything else.  if he is not doing a specific house project, he is fixing a toilet, painting something, building something, sanding something, putting an outlet in,  removing an outlet, cleaning the gutters, doing yard work...  last weekend the weather was miserable (think downpoor with a mixture of wet snow) and he decided this was the day to take down some trees and get rid of all the yard debri.  it was almost frightening.  he was soaking wet and had a crazed look in his eyes.  i didn't even do the obligatory "do you need any help?" (even though i know he will say no)  because i was scared, scared of what i might find buried out there.

anyhoo, back to walker cooking.  he is going to cook this weekend. the meal - he choose a winter salad, jambalaya (what the?) and individual berry cobblers.  AND to top it all off, because he likes the pressure (or pain) he told my parents to come over.  my dad = master chef.  my mom = relentless.  she won't hold back her opinions and her food palate must be made of diamonds*.  she is like anthony bourdain on steroids.  oh - did i say relentless?  she already called and asked if we have pizza as a back up.... she was half joking, but she still said it.  i wish i kidding.

stay tuned.

* not blood diamonds. c'mon people, she isn't inhumane.
